According to the rules and regulations published by Ghana Revenue Authority, it is the shipper’s responsibility to get Ghana ECTN certificate.
However it is usually the freight forwarders that apply and get the ECTN number on behalf of the shipper.
In cases where there is cross trade, we need the party that issues the invoice that will be used while clearing the goods. Therefore it is usually the party that is in contact with the importer that gets ECTN number.
But most of the time it’s their freight forwarder that gets this certificate.
